Variety pedigree: Akmola-2 variety is bred by hybridization in a simple pair crossing, individual selection from a hybrid flock in combination with the transformation of winter crops into spring (line Lutessens M - 808 * Tselinnaya 60).

Botanical characteristics: Awnlike sprouts on outer chaff from 0.5 mm, starting from the middle part of the ear, to 10 mm in the upper part of the ear. The awnlike sprouts are straight and may be curved only on some chaff. The size of the awnlike sprouts increases from the middle to the upper part of the ear.

Biological characteristics: Mid-season variety, steppe ecotype. The type of growth is spring. Drought-resistant, resistant to lodging. The variety is medium-ripening by duration of vegetation period, ripening at the level of the standard Saratovskaya-29 or 1-2 days earlier. The vegetation period is 83-88 days. The Akmola-2 variety yield is achieved mainly due to the high yield process of the main ear, which is determined by the increased number of grains and their larger grain size. The average number of grains in the ear of the Akmola-2 variety is 24.3 pieces, and the mass of 1000 grains is respectively 37.0 grams.

Competitiveness: The main advantages of the variety are resistance to lodging, yield and stability of formation of heavy grain in years with different meteorological conditions. It is moderately affected by dust-brand, much weaker than the standard varieties, brown and stem rusts are affected above average.

In terms of resistance to pests (bread fleas and Swedish fly), the variety is at the level of the standard Saratovskaya-29. The maximum yield of the variety obtained in competitive variety testing in 2006 was 37.5

Commercial value: Akmola-2 has high physical and flour-baking qualities of grain. The content of raw gluten is 28,0-33,2%, protein 15,4-17,0%, flour power 304-471 Joules, volume yield of bread from 100 grams of flour is 570-700 ml and general baking score is 4,4 points. Crop management practice is usual - recommended for medium-ripening varieties in a particular soil and climatic zone. The best forecrop for the variety is fallow.
